It was a rainy day, so Brittney and I took the girls to a really fun indoor playground...where there was also a stage for the girls to dance around on ...

Happy Father's Day & Happy 17month BDay!
Well, we DEFINITELY slept in today... I think we all got up about 11am (THANK YOU KATE for sleeping in with us). Sure was a fun bikeride last night! Was that a dream??? :) We took Dad out to breakfast for Father's Day. And believe it or not, Kate turned 17 months old today!

SURVIVED the midnight bikeride!
Every year, in June, there's a benefit bikeride AT MIDNIGHT that starts at the Garden of the Gods, goes through town then downtown then Old Colorado City, and ends back at Garden of the Gods. You can choose to go either 16 or 20 miles. There's a big pancake breakfast afterwards (3am??). It's crazy! If the people are actually awake along the streets with houses that we ride by, they are often yelling out to us "WHAT THE HECK?? WHAT ARE ALL OF YOU DOING?" There's usually about 1,500 riders, and it's totally a blast! The bicycle ride benefits the Trails and Open Space Coalition (they're awesome!).
SO - for last year's bikeride, we snuck out and left Kate at home, and our friend/neighbor came over & watched her/slept. This year, WE TOOK KATE! (My mother's day present was an awesome bikcycle trailer!) So we stuffed in a pillow and blanket and woke Kate up at 10pm and off we went -- to the Garden of the Gods! She was pretty much in a daze during the music and fun stuff that precedes the bikeride...then she slept about 2hours in the trailer while we road around. She woke up around 2am to see what all the hype was about at one of the fun break stops (she wanted to get in on the fresh fruti, pretzels, and peanut M&Ms!). Well, she stayed awake for the rest of the ride, the pancake breakfast, the car ride home, and about 30 minutes after we got home -- that rascal! We were EXHAUSTED -- kept saying "go to sleep lil Kate"; "time for sleepy sleepy". Poor thing was pretty confused. [Remember we just returned 2 nights earlier from our 14-hour road-trip back home from Arkansas! Got home about 2:30am from that trip! EEK]
I've rambled enough -- but the pics below show some of our team members -- Carolyn's little sister, Tiana (she did GREAT on the ride), and our friend Brian (Noah's dad -- you've seen Noah in blogs before; he was born exactly 1 month before Kate).

The sweetest pics you ever did see!
Kate loves Jude! He's the only one that gets true KISSES from Kate. She kisses him on the head - several times a day - and makes the smooching noise and everything. It's so adorable. Here are some pics we took of the 2 of them being ever so sweet...And, of course ... stinker face has shown up AGAIN:

16 months...
...The age that Kate's mommy stops working! Oh my - I'm officially a stay-at-home mom. Whoa! Soooo...you'll see some good PLAYtime photos below, because, alas - I have time to take Kate on play dates, and we're out doing ALL kinda of fun stuff...INCLUDING a gigantic road trip to Fayetteville, AR to see my sister. Mandy had her baby on May 29th -- a darling little boy, Jude Anthony (7lbs 1oz). I'm an Auntie! Kate's a cousin! Gene's an Uncle!
What's Kate up to lately? Well, she LOVE balloons -- she calls them "baa". She also loves the kick everybody gets out her when you say "stinker face" (see below). She's learning more and more words and still does several signs (sign language). She's our smart lil girl!
The Big News -- Kate has finally taken her first steps and is gaining more confidence everyday!! It's so weird how suddenly -- they just start walking around everywhere! She looks like a little drunk baby, and it's so stinking cute, I just had to include some videos!
Here's Kate walking at Carolyn's sister's house...
Here's Kate walking at the library in Fayetteville, AR...
Here's Kate walking in the GRASS at a park!...
... and it just doesn't stop! She's walking everywhere!!!

Our little girl loves hats, cars/trucks, and rocks. You’ll see some pics below of her playing outside. She loves hanging out on the front porch with the doggie and organizing the river rocks. We went hiking one cloudy afternoon out by the Glen Erie castle. Oh, and this is way cool --– we got a bike trailer! It was a present for me for Mother’s Day… WOW!! We’ll be taking Kate out in June for the annual midnight bike ride through Garden of the Gods – wish us luck!

Kate on the Ranch!
Last weekend, Mom's work had an event "Prairie Days with Palmer Land Trust" -- took place at an 87,000-acre ranch just south of Colorado Springs. There was bird banding, nature hikes, wagon rides, and arts-n-crafts. Kate had a great time! We couldn't resist putting her in a lil cowgirl hat and taking some pics! Enjoy!

March 27th: SNOW! We actually have not had hardly any snow this winter. Of course this would be the case, since Kate asked Santa for a sled and a snowsuit for Christmas. Finally we got to bust this stuff out. She's only used it maybe 3 times. Ugh.
We’ve been reading to Kate since she was a wee little baby, and she really loves her books!
Kate’s been practicing walking. Her friend, Brinlie, loaned her this lil lion which she loves pushing around the house!
Easter Weekend: Mom & Kate flew 'solo' to TX for a whirlwind trip to see the fam. Carolyn's brother would be moving ALL the way out to Maryland soon, so it was a good time to get the whole family together (not an easy thing with each sibling living in a different state and parents living in TX!).
April 13th: Kate always wants to be up in our business … so here she is – content - not screaming - & glad that mommy lets her up in the counter while she works in the kitchen!
April 18th: Finally found some time to take Kate in to the KIDDIE BARBER SHOP for her 1st little haircut. She did great! No surprise considering the super-fun surroundings!
